“I created this three-dimensional paper sculpture during my retreat at Valleyview. The Wi-Fi was out and I found myself without my go-to research tool: the Internet. On the book shelf, I came across several books about horses that peaked my interest. These, coupled with the majestic horses ambling through the property, sparked my desire to depict a familial scene with a wink towards our screen-obsessed culture.
Valleyview provided a safe, peaceful space to create new work that I never would have otherwise ideated. The cottage and property will always hold a special place in my heart as a lovely oasis of respite and creativity.”
